The Ghana Gold Board has signed a new refinery agreement with Royal Ghana Gold Limited as part of efforts to boost local gold processing. Under the agreement, GoldBod will supply up to one metric tonne of gold every week for local refining. At least 19 people were taken to hospital after a strong smell spread through a shopping complex in Tokyo on Monday. The incident happened at the luxury Ginza 6 shopping centre in the city’s Ginza district. According to police, a man sprayed a substance near a cash machine on the ground floor of the building. Officials believe the substance was an irritant spray containing capsaicin, a chemical found in chilli peppers. Police are still searching for the suspect, according to reports by NHK. The Ghana Association of Radiologists has called for more investment in modern diagnostic equipment across the country. The association says many hospitals still lack advanced imaging machines such as CT scans and MRI scanners. According to the group, the shortage affects the early detection and treatment of diseases. Three people have died in a road accident at Woadze near Kpeve along the Kpeve–Asikuma road in the Volta Region. The accident happened on Friday, May 22, 2026. Traders at Kantamanto Market will now pay an annual Business Operating Permit (BOP) fee of GHC100 per shop following a new agreement with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly. The agreement was reached between the AMA and the Kantamanto Obroniwawu Businesses Association (KOBA). The reduced fee took effect on May 11, 2026.
