Veekee James Draws the Line With Party Bloggers After Her Phone Password Goes Viral

Nigerian fashion designer Veekee James has launched a strong criticism of Lagos party bloggers after footage showing her phone password surfaced online, accusing some content creators of crossing the line between entertainment and personal privacy.

Veekee James is tired of being filmed, and this time, she is making sure people know it. The celebrity fashion designer has publicly called out Lagos party bloggers after waking up to find footage of her typing her phone password circulating online. For Veekee, the issue was not simply another celebrity video making rounds on social media. It was about privacy. The designer said she had already been dealing with what she described as increasingly aggressive filming at social events, but seeing her private phone activity captured and shared online pushed her frustration to another level. Her reaction has now sparked a wider conversation about how far entertainment bloggers should go when filming celebrities at public events.

The Moment That Set Veekee Off

The controversy reportedly started after a video showing Veekee at an event circulated online. In the footage, she was seen typing the password to her phone. The video was subsequently posted by a party blog, exposing information that Veekee clearly did not intend to make public. That appears to have been the final straw for the designer. In a video recorded from her home, Veekee addressed the issue directly and explained why she was angry. She argued that celebrities attending events should not automatically lose their right to privacy simply because cameras are around.

    Veekee’s Strong Warning

Veekee did not hold back when addressing the bloggers.

Her most striking warning was directed at anyone who puts a camera in her face disrespectfully.

“The next time a party blog puts a camera in my face in a disrespectful manner, pray I’m not in the mood to actually spoil somebody’s phone on that day, because that’s what will happen, and I will not buy the phone.”

That statement immediately became one of the most talked-about parts of her rant.

Rather than quietly complain about the situation, Veekee made it clear that she believes there should be consequences when bloggers ignore personal boundaries.

She Says More Than 20 Bloggers Once Crowded Her

Veekee also revealed that the phone-password incident was not an isolated experience. According to the designer, she had previously encountered a situation where more than 20 bloggers crowded around the entrance of an event. She said the number of people surrounding her made it difficult for guests to move freely, forcing her to repeatedly ask them to clear the way. For Veekee, that kind of behavior goes beyond simply doing a job. She acknowledged that bloggers need content to make a living, but argued that earning money from entertainment coverage should not come at the expense of someone’s dignity or privacy.

    “It’s Becoming a Pandemic”

Veekee reportedly described the behavior she was complaining about as a growing “pandemic” among party bloggers. Her frustration reflects a problem that has become increasingly visible within Nigeria’s celebrity culture. At major parties, birthdays, weddings, and entertainment events, bloggers often surround celebrities with cameras, trying to capture everything from their outfits and conversations to their reactions and interactions with other guests. That content can generate huge engagement. But Veekee’s complaint raises the question of where the boundary should be drawn. Being a public figure may make someone more accustomed to cameras, but does that automatically mean every private action should become online content?

The Phone Password Became the Breaking Point

The difference between filming a celebrity’s outfit and filming their phone screen is significant. A celebrity may willingly pose for cameras, give interviews, or allow photographers to capture their appearance. But recording someone while they enter a private password is an entirely different matter. That is why Veekee’s reaction has resonated with some social media users who believe party bloggers need clearer boundaries when covering public figures. Others, however, have questioned whether celebrities who attend heavily documented public events can realistically expect complete privacy. And that disagreement has made Veekee’s comments even more interesting.

Veekee Brings Up Toke Makinwa’s Baby

During her rant, Veekee also referred to another incident involving media personality Toke Makinwa’s baby. She expressed disgust over a situation in which a stranger reportedly walked up and touched the baby’s hand at a public event. For Veekee, that incident illustrated the wider issue of people becoming too comfortable invading the personal space of celebrities and their families. Her argument was essentially that being famous should not mean surrendering every personal boundary.

This Is Not Veekee’s First Camera Controversy

Interestingly, Veekee had already been involved in another camera-related controversy just a day earlier. On August 29, a video from Iyabo Ojo’s grandson Rakeem’s first birthday party showed Veekee confronting a videographer over the way he was pointing his camera.

    She told him:

“Carry your phone down because that is how you will video somebody’s chest.”

That earlier incident also divided social media users.

Some people supported Veekee’s position and felt the videographer should have respected her personal space. Others argued that celebrities who attend public events should expect to be filmed. The latest controversy therefore appears to be part of a bigger frustration Veekee has been experiencing with event coverage.

The Bigger Question About Celebrity Privacy

Veekee’s outburst has opened a much bigger conversation than the phone-password incident itself.

Nigeria’s entertainment industry now operates in an environment where almost every public moment can become content.

A celebrity walks into a party — cameras follow.

A celebrity speaks to a friend — someone records it.

A celebrity reacts to something — it can be uploaded within minutes.

That constant documentation has helped build the modern entertainment-blogging industry, but it has also created new questions about consent and personal boundaries. Veekee appears to be drawing her own line. And judging from her latest warning, she does not want that line crossed again.

Veekee James’ latest confrontation with party bloggers is more than another celebrity-versus-blogger dispute. It highlights the increasingly complicated relationship between public attention and private boundaries in an entertainment industry where cameras are practically everywhere. For Veekee, the issue became particularly serious when footage of her entering her phone password was circulated online. Her message is now clear: being a public figure does not mean everything about your private life is public property. But with party bloggers arguing that their work depends on capturing celebrities in real time, the debate is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.

Do you think Veekee James is right to demand stronger boundaries from party bloggers, or should celebrities expect this level of filming whenever they attend public events?
