President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to economic transformation, describing it as a key pillar of the government’s efforts to create jobs and build a resilient economy.
He made the remarks while receiving the letters of credence of seven newly appointed ambassadors and high commissioners at the Jubilee House, formally marking the start of their diplomatic missions in Ghana.
Seven Envoys Present Credentials
The diplomats who presented their credentials were:
- H.E. Ronald Micallef, High Commissioner of Malta
- H.E. Andrei Ordash, Ambassador of Russia
- H.E. Michal Cygan, Ambassador of Poland
- H.E. Bambang Suharto, Ambassador of Indonesia
- H.E. Isbeth Lisbeth Quiel Murcia, Ambassador of Panama
- H.E. Armen Sargsyan, Ambassador of Armenia
- H.E. Selestine Gervas Kakele, Ambassador of Tanzania
President Mahama welcomed the envoys and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding economic cooperation.
Focus on Economic Growth
The President said Ghana is implementing a bold economic transformation programme designed to generate sustainable employment and strengthen the country’s economic foundations.
“Ghana is currently pursuing a bold programme of economic transformation aimed at creating sustainable jobs and building a resilient economy,” he said.
According to him, the government’s priorities include agricultural modernisation, industrialisation, digital transformation and reforms in the energy sector.
He also highlighted the administration’s 24-Hour Economy initiative as a key component of its broader development strategy.
Investment Opportunities
President Mahama encouraged the international business community to explore investment opportunities in Ghana.
He pointed to recent positive assessments from international financial institutions and credit rating agencies as signs of growing confidence in the country’s economic outlook.
The President identified manufacturing, mining, technology and tourism as sectors with strong potential for investment and growth.
Gateway to Africa
Mahama also reminded the diplomats that Ghana hosts the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
He said the country’s strategic position offers investors access to a continental market of more than 1.4 billion people.
According to the President, Ghana remains committed to creating an environment that supports trade, investment and stronger international partnerships.
