Chelsea Shine in London Derby: Crystal Palace 1–3 Chelsea Report

Estêvão Stars as Chelsea Dominate Palace in Selhurst Park Derby

In a compelling Premier League London derby on January 25, 2026, Chelsea bounced back with a strong 3–1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, showcasing attacking flair and tactical discipline under new head coach Liam Rosenior. The victory not only ended Chelsea’s away struggles but also extended Palace’s difficult run of form, deepening the Eagles’ woes in the league.

    Early Momentum for Chelsea

Chelsea took the lead in the 34th minute when 18-year-old Estêvão Willian pounced on a defensive error by Palace to fire the visitors ahead. The Brazilian teenager combined both pace and precision, threatening the Eagles’ defense throughout the afternoon and earning praise from Rosenior for his “special talent.”

Shortly after half-time, João Pedro doubled Chelsea’s advantage with a well-taken goal, finishing clinically after a slick attacking move.

Penalty and Red Card Turn the Tide

A pivotal moment arrived in the 64th minute when Chelsea were awarded a penalty following a handball by Palace defender Jaydee Canvot. Enzo Fernández coolly converted from the spot to make it 3–0, underlining Chelsea’s control of the game. Shortly after, Palace’s Adam Wharton received a second yellow card and was sent off, further complicating the hosts’ task.

Crystal Palace managed a late consolation through Chris Richards, but it proved little more than a header in a solid performance from the Blues.

    Implications for Both Teams

The win lifted Chelsea into the top four of the Premier League standings, continuing their unbeaten run under Rosenior and strengthening their European qualification push. Meanwhile, Palace’s struggles continue: the Eagles remain without a win in their last 11 matches across competitions and are perilously close to the relegation zone.

The result highlighted not only Chelsea’s attacking depth — particularly from young star Estêvão — but also systemic issues at Palace, where chances were squandered and discipline faltered at crucial moments.
