About 32 bodies, mostly children, have been dug up from a mass grave in the western Kenyan town of Kericho as investigations continue into the shocking discovery. The exhumation was done after the police obtained a court order to retrieve 14 bodies that were initially believed to have been buried at the site. Government pathologist Richard Njoroge told journalists on Tuesday evening that what they found was “quite unusual” with bodies “stacked in gunny bags”, after a day-long process that was interrupted by heavy rains. A post-mortem examination is expected to begin on Wednesday, amid calls to promptly identify the bodies and…
The founder of Ghanaian animation studio AnimaxFYB Studios, Francis Y. Brown, has called on the government to take intentional action to formalise Ghana’s animation industry. He cautioned that without a clear policy framework and stronger investment in technical skills development, the country risks missing a valuable opportunity to establish itself as a leading animation hub in Africa. He made the statement during a press briefing in Accra on Monday, following the studio’s return from the TAIDO African Animation Awards in Tokyo, Japan, where AnimaxFYB won three awards for its contributions to African animation and storytelling. He noted that achieving this…

America may be a nation at war, but President Donald Trump’s activities over the past few days have been a mix of diplomacy and diversions – with the occasional swing towards the surreal. On Friday, he said the US war against Iran was “winding down”. By Saturday night, he had given Iran a 48-hour deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face withering new American airstrikes. The next day, he golfed and spent the afternoon at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. By Monday morning, with global markets swooning, he said the Iranians were engaging in “constructive” talks with the US. Then…
President John Dramani Mahama, speaking in New York on Tuesday, criticised the U.S. administration for what he described as normalising the erasure of Black history, warning that such policies could have ripple effects elsewhere. Since his return to power, U.S. President Donald Trump has targeted U.S. cultural and historical institutions – from museums to monuments to national parks – to remove what he calls “anti-American” ideology. His declarations and executive orders have led to the dismantling of slavery exhibits, the restoration of Confederate statues and other moves that civil rights advocates say could reverse decades of social progress. “These policies are becoming…

Lincoln University has cancelled the planned visit of John Mahama just days before he was due to receive an honorary doctorate. In a notice published ahead of the March 26 event, the university cited “unforeseen circumstances” for the decision. However, Ghana’s Embassy in Washington, D.C. later clarified that the move followed concerns raised by a group over Mahama’s perceived stance on Ghana’s Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill. According to the Embassy, the last-minute cancellation came despite all preparations having been completed, including venue inspections conducted jointly by embassy officials and university representatives. The Embassy also expressed disappointment, noting…
