The New Patriotic Party United States branch (NPP-USA) is set to elect new executives at its 2026 Branch Delegates Conference scheduled for Friday, July 24 to Sunday, July 26, in Westborough, Massachusetts.
The three-day conference will bring together party executives, delegates and members from chapters across the United States to elect a new national executive team to lead the branch for the next term.
The event is expected to serve as a platform for leadership renewal, policy discussions and strategic planning ahead of Ghana’s 2028 general elections.
The conference will be held under the theme, “Rooted in the Values of Our Founders, Rising to Secure Ghana’s Future.”
The theme highlights the branch’s commitment to preserving the ideological foundations of the New Patriotic Party while contributing to the party’s future electoral ambitions.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Communication and Media Relations Committee of the NPP Massachusetts Chapter, which confirmed the branch’s readiness to host delegates and ensure a successful conference.
Leadership elections and party strategy
Organisers said the conference will allow delegates to reaffirm their commitment to the party’s democratic values through a transparent electoral process.
They added that the gathering will strengthen unity among members of the Ghanaian diaspora and provide an opportunity to discuss ways to improve the organisation of the NPP-USA branch.
Beyond the elections, delegates are expected to consider strategies to strengthen party structures, improve grassroots mobilisation across chapters and increase the branch’s contribution to political activities in Ghana.
The conference will be held under the leadership of NPP-USA Branch Chairperson, Obaa Yaa Amponsah Frimpong, with the Massachusetts Chapter, led by Chairperson Louis Amoako Mensah, serving as host.
Chairperson race attracts attention
One of the major contests at the conference will be the election for the position of Branch Chairperson.
The race features Ing. Janis Asare-Bediako, Chairperson of the Washington Metro Chapter, and Mr James Owusu, the current First Vice Chairman of the NPP-USA Branch.
Delegates will also elect other branch executives who will oversee the administration of the organisation, strengthen party structures and provide strategic direction during the next term.
NPP leaders expected at conference
The conference is expected to feature addresses from senior members of the New Patriotic Party on the party’s future, organisational rebuilding and preparations for the 2028 elections.
Expected speakers include Danquah Smith Buttey, Acting Chairman of the party; Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Minority Leader in Parliament; and Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Chief of Staff at the Office of the NPP Flagbearer.
A major highlight of the event will be the keynote address by the NPP’s 2028 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
He is expected to outline his vision for Ghana’s future and encourage party members to work together towards the party’s return to power in the next general elections.
Political observers within the party believe the conference will play an important role in determining the future direction of NPP-USA and its engagement with the party’s activities in Ghana.
The resolutions from the conference are expected to strengthen cooperation between the diaspora branch and the party’s national leadership while encouraging greater participation by Ghanaians abroad in the party’s political and development agenda.
