The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released funds for the purchase of perishable food items for second and third-year students in Senior High Schools (SHSs) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTSs).
In a letter dated July 15, 2026, the Service informed all Regional Directors of Education that payments covering the period from March 1 to September 4, 2026, had been transferred to the accounts of various second-cycle schools.
The directive, signed by the Deputy Director-General in charge of Quality and Assurance, Dr Munawaru Issahaque, on behalf of the Director-General, asked Regional Directors to notify heads of SHSs and SHTSs that the funds were available.
GES said the released funds are specifically meant for the procurement of perishable food items for second and third-year students.
The Service directed heads of beneficiary schools to provide official receipts for all funds received.
The receipts must be submitted to the Director-General through the respective Regional Accountants.
GES expressed confidence that Regional Directors and heads of schools would work together to ensure the successful implementation of the directive.
