Thomas Partey declares readiness for England clash as Black Stars target Group L summit

Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey says he is ready to play in Ghana’s crucial FIFA World Cup Group L match against England.

The 33-year-old Villarreal midfielder missed Ghana’s opening 1-0 victory over Panama because immigration and visa issues prevented him from entering Canada before the tournament.

However, Partey says he is now fully fit and ready to help Ghana in one of the most anticipated matches of the group stage.

“For me, now I feel okay. I’m ready to play,” he said ahead of Tuesday’s encounter.

Partey’s return comes as a major boost for the Black Stars.

Ghana secured all three points against Panama despite missing one of its most experienced players.

The four-time African champions will now hope the former Arsenal midfielder can strengthen the team against an England side regarded as one of the favourites for the title.

Although many fans expect a midfield contest between Partey and England’s Declan Rice, his former Arsenal teammate, the Ghana deputy captain believes success depends on teamwork.

According to him, unity, discipline and collective effort matter more than individual duels.

Partey has been one of the key figures in the Black Stars setup for several years. As a result, his experience could prove crucial in Ghana’s bid to reach the Round of 16.

Meanwhile, Partey says the mood in camp remains positive.

He revealed that the players are focused and determined to represent Ghana with pride.

In addition, he said the squad is enjoying the World Cup experience while remaining committed to improving with every game.

According to the midfielder, everyone in the team understands the importance of the tournament and wants to make the country proud.

Ghana’s clash with England is expected to be one of the standout matches of the group stage.

The Three Lions boast several world-class players and entered the tournament among the favourites.

However, the Black Stars believe they can compete with any team when playing at their best.

A positive result against England would improve Ghana’s chances of reaching the knockout stage. It could also move the Black Stars to the top of Group L.

The match will take place at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Tuesday, June 23.

Ghana heads into the game full of confidence after the hard-fought victory over Panama.

Teenage midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner to hand the Black Stars maximum points in their opening match.

The result highlighted the team’s fighting spirit and gave Ghana a strong foundation for the remaining fixtures.

After facing England, Otto Addo’s side will conclude its Group L campaign against Croatia in Philadelphia on Saturday, June 27.

With a place in the knockout stage at stake, Partey’s return could provide a timely boost as the Black Stars chase another memorable World Cup campaign.
