MTN Ghana introduces new MoMo-to-bank transfer charges

MTN Ghana has announced new charges on transfers from Mobile Money (MoMo) wallets to bank accounts starting June 1, 2026.

In a text message sent to customers on Monday, the telecom company said users will now pay a 0.75% fee on every MoMo-to-bank transfer transaction.

The company added that the charge will be capped at GHS 5 per transaction.

According to MTN, the new fee “will help us continue to serve you better.”

The announcement is expected to generate debate among mobile money users across Ghana.

Many customers use MoMo-to-bank transfers for business transactions, salary transfers and daily banking activities.

Under the new pricing structure, customers who transfer money from their MoMo wallets into bank accounts will pay a percentage-based charge depending on the amount transferred.

However, the deduction on a single transaction will not exceed GHS 5.

The latest adjustment adds to ongoing discussions about the cost of digital financial services and mobile money transactions in Ghana.
