President John Dramani Mahama will today, Monday, April 6, 2026, begin an official visit to France at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.

A statement from the Presidency, signed by Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, said the visit will start in Lyon, where President Mahama will participate in the 2026 One Health Summit. The high-level global event will focus on strengthening health systems, improving food security, and enhancing coordinated responses to global health challenges.

President Mahama, who leads the Accra Reset Initiative, will co-chair the summit’s high-level segment with President Macron on Tuesday.

The summit is expected to bring together world leaders, health ministers, and global experts to discuss reforms to international health systems and adopt a political declaration aimed at boosting global health cooperation.

During the event, President Mahama will deliver two keynote speeches. The first will take place at a session on global health architecture, co-chaired by President Macron and Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization.

In his second address, he will present Ghana’s position on global health security and outline the country’s commitments to tackling emerging health threats.

After the summit, President Mahama will travel to Paris on Wednesday, April 8, for bilateral talks with President Macron at the Élysée Palace.

The discussions will focus on deepening relations between Ghana and France, with particular attention to cooperation in health, education, trade, investment, and regional security.

As part of his itinerary, President Mahama will also meet Gérard Larcher at the Senate before proceeding to the Élysée Palace for official talks.

He is expected to return to Accra after concluding his engagements in Paris.
