    Maame Serwaa Celebrates 20 Years in Ghana’s Film Industry From Child Star to Veteran Actress

    Ghanaian actress Clara Amoateng Benson, popularly known as Maame Serwaa, is celebrating two decades in the movie industry and reflecting on the journey that started when she was just a child.

    Maame Serwaa is celebrating a huge milestone: 20 years in Ghana’s movie industry! The actress, whose real name is Clara Amoateng Benson, has marked two decades in filmmaking, reflecting on the opportunities, challenges, and unforgettable moments that have shaped her career. She shared the milestone on social media, expressing gratitude to everyone who supported her journey from child actress to one of the recognizable faces of Ghanaian Kumawood.

    From Child Star to Household Name

    Maame Serwaa started acting at a very young age, appearing in Kumawood productions as a child. Her natural screen presence and memorable performances quickly made her popular with Ghanaian movie lovers. Over the years, she featured in movies including School Girl, The Christmas After Party, My Mother My Jewel, Maame Serwaa Amanehunu, Bayie Economy and Me Ba. Her career also took her beyond Ghana’s local movie scene. In 2018, she featured in a BBC Africa documentary examining Ghana’s thriving Kumawood industry and how the sector continued producing films despite limited budgets.

    20 Years of Growth

    Reflecting on the milestone, Maame Serwaa described the journey as one filled with passion, growth, challenges, unforgettable moments, and lessons. She thanked the people who gave her opportunities and the fans who continued supporting her throughout the years. She also expressed gratitude to God for allowing her to spend two decades doing something she loves. Her career has earned her awards, including Kumawood Best Actress of the Year and recognition from other entertainment award schemes. At just 27, the actress has already spent more than two decades in front of cameras, meaning acting has essentially been part of most of her life.

    From a young Kumawood actress to a recognized Ghanaian entertainment personality, Maame Serwaa’s 20-year journey is one of the more remarkable careers to come out of Ghana’s movie industry.
