The former agent of Mohammed Kudus, Jennifer Mendelewitsch, has claimed that family influence played a key role in the player’s decision to end their professional relationship.
Kudus parted ways with Mendelewitsch ahead of his move from West Ham United to Tottenham Hotspur last summer.
Speaking in an interview with Sacha Tavolieri, Mendelewitsch said discussions had taken place as their contract neared its end, with both sides weighing whether to continue working together.
“We were coming to the end of our term… we asked ourselves what we should do next,” she explained.
However, she alleged that Kudus ultimately followed the wishes of his family, who were against continuing the partnership.
“I understand that his family was pushing for a ‘no,’ and he went along with it. Honestly, it’s a shame,” she said, suggesting financial considerations may have influenced the decision.
Mendelewitsch had represented Kudus during key of his career, including his move from FC Nordsjælland to Ajax Amsterdam, and later his transfer to West Ham.
Kudus, a key member of Ghana’s Black Stars, is currently sidelined for the remainder of the season after suffering a relapse following a recent injury.
