Mohammed Kudus misses Tottenham pre-season tour as injury recovery continues

Ghana international Mohammed Kudus has been left out of Tottenham Hotspur’s squad for the club’s pre-season tour of New Zealand and Australia as he continues his recovery from injury.

The 25-year-old forward will remain at the club’s training base, Hotspur Way, alongside teammates Xavi Simons, Dejan Kulusevski and Wilson Odobert, as they continue their rehabilitation programmes.

Tottenham confirmed the decision after naming a 35-man squad for the pre-season trip.

    Kudus focused on full recovery

Kudus has been working towards regaining full fitness after an injury affected the second half of his 2025/26 campaign.

The setback also prevented him from featuring for Ghana at the FIFA World Cup in North America, denying the Black Stars one of their most important attacking players during the tournament.

Although he will miss Tottenham’s pre-season matches against Auckland FC, Sydney FC and Chelsea, the club believes keeping him in London will allow him to complete the final stages of his recovery under the supervision of the medical team.

Tottenham are prioritising his long-term fitness as they prepare for the new Premier League season.

    Strong start interrupted by injury

Kudus joined Tottenham from West Ham United in July 2025 in a transfer deal reportedly worth about £55 million.

The Ghanaian attacker enjoyed a promising start in North London, providing goals and assists before injury interrupted his progress.

The former Ajax and FC Nordsjælland player quickly became an important part of Tottenham’s attacking plans, with his pace, creativity and ability to influence matches earning praise from fans and analysts.

    Black Stars monitor Kudus’ return

Kudus will now focus on returning to full training in the coming weeks as he targets involvement in Tottenham’s final pre-season preparations.

His recovery will also be closely followed by Ghana’s national team ahead of upcoming international assignments, including the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Black Stars will be hoping the influential forward returns to action fully fit after missing the World Cup through injury.
