Doctors at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have suspended all Out-Patient Department (OPD) services.
The action took effect on May 4, 2026.
The Korle Bu Doctors Association announced the decision after a dispute with laboratory staff at the Central Laboratory.
KODA said the move is based on patient safety concerns. It warned that it could suspend in-patient services if the issue is not resolved.
“KODA withdraws all Out-Patient Services from Monday, May 4, 2026. Escalation towards suspension of in-patient services will be communicated,” the group said.

The association accused members of the Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of restricting access to the Central Laboratory.
It said the situation is affecting clinical work and decision-making.
KODA is demanding that qualified laboratory physicians review all specialised test results before release.
It also wants full access to laboratory systems for clinical and academic work.
The group has further called on hospital management to investigate alleged threats against its members.
KODA also opposed plans to introduce 24-hour specialist outpatient services. It said the hospital’s polyclinic already provides such care.
The association admitted the disruption will affect patients. However, it insists the action is necessary to protect standards at the hospital.
The standoff is expected to affect hundreds of patients as efforts continue to resolve the dispute.
