Guinness Ghana has announced a significant boost to its support for the Ghana music industry, unveiling an enhanced prize package for the Album/EP of the Year category at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
Beginning with the 27th edition of the awards in 2026, the winner of the prestigious category will receive a cash prize of GH¢100,000, marking one of the most substantial corporate rewards attached to a TGMA category in recent years.
In addition to the cash award, the winning artiste will benefit from production support for a music video for their next project, as well as curated business intelligence services from Guinness Ghana aimed at strengthening both their creative output and commercial strategy.
The company says the expanded package is designed to go beyond the awards night, offering sustained value and long-term industry impact for artistes.
Speaking on the initiative, Yaa Amoah-Owusu, Head of Media and Partnerships at Guinness Ghana, described the category as the highest expression of artistic creativity and storytelling within the awards scheme.
“The Album/EP of the Year category represents the pinnacle of artistic expression, body of work, storytelling, and sonic identity,” she said. “This package is Guinness Ghana’s way of recognising excellence and investing in the future of the artist and the industry at large.”
Guinness Ghana, a longstanding partner of the TGMA, said the initiative reinforces its commitment to strengthening Ghana’s creative arts sector, particularly at a time when full-length music projects are gaining renewed importance in the industry.
Beyond financial support, the package also includes a listening experience initiative aimed at increasing audience engagement, industry networking, and visibility for the winning artiste’s future releases.
Charterhouse Productions, organisers of the awards, welcomed the development, describing it as a timely intervention that aligns with efforts to elevate Ghanaian music.
Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse, said the initiative underscores the value of albums and EPs as enduring creative works and provides tangible support for artistes.
“This is an important intervention from Guinness Ghana,” he noted. “It aligns with our commitment to celebrate and elevate Ghanaian music, while also creating tangible support for artistes.”
The nominees for the 2026 Album/EP of the Year category include Black Sherif with Iron Boy, Stonebwoy, Gyakie with After Midnight, Medikal with Disturbation II, Wendy Shay with Ready, and Kweku Smoke with Walk With Me.
The 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards is scheduled for May 9, 2026.
