The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted a teacher of Bole Senior High School in the Savannah Region following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a student.

The decision follows the circulation of a video on social media that allegedly shows inappropriate conduct between the teacher and the student.

    Investigations Underway

In a statement issued on June 16, 2026, and signed by Head of Public Relations Daniel Fenyi, the GES said it has launched investigations into the matter.

According to the statement, the teacher has been interdicted in line with GES regulations while the investigation continues.

“Management has initiated investigations into the matter. Pending the outcome of the investigations, management directs that the teacher is interdicted in accordance with GES rules and regulations,” the statement said.

    GES Reaffirms Zero-Tolerance Policy

The Service used the occasion to restate its position against inappropriate relationships between teachers and students.

GES said it strongly condemns all forms of amorous relationships involving staff and students and expects teachers to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct.

“Management strongly condemns all forms of amorous relationships between teachers and students,” the statement noted.

The Service further reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on sexual misconduct and urged all staff to maintain professional ethics at all times.

    Commitment to Student Safety

GES assured the public that protecting students remains a top priority.

The statement stressed that any individual found guilty after investigations will face the appropriate disciplinary and legal consequences.

“Management remains committed to ensuring the safety, protection and well-being of all students within the educational system. Appropriate disciplinary and legal action will be taken against any individual found culpable,” it stated.

    Public Assured of Thorough Investigation

The Education Service said it is treating the matter with the seriousness it deserves.

It also assured the public that further information would be provided if necessary as investigations progress.

“The public is assured that the matter is being treated with the utmost seriousness. Further updates, where necessary, might be provided as investigations progress,” the statement added.
