The Cybercrime Unit of the Ghana Police Service’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID), in a joint operation with the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), has arrested a 36-year-old businessman from East Legon over allegations of drugging women, sexually assaulting them, secretly recording the encounters, and sharing the footage online without their consent.
The suspect, identified as Joshua Kojo Anane Boateng, who is also reported to be the CEO of SOJAfrican Clothing, was arrested on May 6, 2026, during what police described as an intelligence-led operation.
Briefing journalists in Accra on Tuesday, May 12, CID Director-General, Commissioner of Police Lydia Yaako Donkor, said preliminary investigations suggest the suspect operated a Telegram channel known as “VIP Sleep Fetish 2025,” where explicit videos of victims were allegedly circulated.
According to the police, investigations indicate that Boateng allegedly targeted women at various nightclubs in Accra before drugging them with substances believed to include alprazolam, commonly known as Xanax, and Midazolam.
Police say the suspect allegedly sedated the victims before sexually assaulting them, secretly recording the acts, and distributing the intimate content online without the victims’ consent.
Authorities further revealed that the suspect is believed to have frequented several nightclubs in 2025, where some of the alleged victims were identified and approached.
A search conducted during the arrest led to the retrieval of two iPhones, one feature phone, a memory card, a Seagate external hard drive, a MacBook laptop, an iSafe device, as well as empty sachets suspected to have contained Xanax and Midazolam.
The electronic devices have since been secured for digital forensic examination, while the recovered sachets have been forwarded to the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) for verification and classification.
Police confirmed that the suspect has been put before the court, while investigations into the case remain ongoing.
The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to tackling cyber-enabled sexual exploitation and abuse and urged members of the public to report suspected cases through the appropriate channels.
