Former Ghana Football Association chairman Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has urged the reinstatement of Andre Ayew into the Black Stars, insisting the veteran forward still has a vital role to play in the national team.
The seasoned football administrator argued that the 36-year-old’s wealth of experience is currently missing from the squad and could provide valuable leadership if recalled.
“The team needs an experienced player, and that is Dede Ayew. I watched the game against Mexico, and it was clear that experience was missing,” he said in an interview.
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe questioned Ayew’s continued exclusion despite his active professional career, drawing comparisons with global icons Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
“Look at Ronaldo and Messi. Despite their age, they continue to represent their countries. Why should Dede be dropped when he is still actively playing?” he asked.
Beyond Ayew’s situation, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe expressed confidence in newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz, describing him as a highly experienced tactician with an impressive track record.
He noted that Queiroz would not be the first Portuguese coach to lead Ghana, referencing Mariano Barreto’s tenure as an example of successful Portuguese influence.
“The previous Portuguese coach, Mariano Barreto, performed well, so I believe Queiroz can also succeed,” he said.
The former FA chairman urged Ghanaians to rally behind Queiroz and called on GFA President Kurt Simeon-Okraku to grant the coach full autonomy.
“He should be allowed to do his work. No one should impose decisions on him,” he advised.
