President John Dramani Mahama has begun a two-day working visit to the Volta Region with a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of 18 24-hour Economy Model Markets across the region.
The visit forms part of his #ResettingGhana Tour, which seeks to engage communities and assess the progress of key government development projects.
President Mahama started the tour in Juapong, where he officially launched the market project. The initiative will see one 24-hour Economy Model Market built in each district across the Volta Region.
The President is accompanied by Ministers of State, heads of public institutions and Members of Parliament.
During the visit, President Mahama will tour the Peki College of Education (GOVCO) and the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) at Sokode.
He will also inspect ongoing construction works on the Asikuma–Ho Road under the government’s Big Push Programme and inaugurate the Akatsi North District Police Headquarters.
The President is further expected to host an educational durbar on the government’s Free Primary Healthcare Programme to engage residents on the policy and its implementation.
On Friday, President Mahama will hold a town hall meeting with chiefs and residents at the Ho Technical University.
The meeting will provide an opportunity for citizens to share their views on government policies, development projects and interventions in the Volta Region.
As part of the visit, the President will also inspect the Ho Sports Stadium to assess its current condition and receive updates on the facility.
