The 2026 edition of the Nestlé Milo U13 Championship has kicked off at the Sekondi Sports Stadium, drawing some of Ghana’s brightest young football talents into the national spotlight.

Sixteen basic schools, each representing one of the country’s regions, will compete over the next four days in a tournament widely regarded as a key platform for grassroots football development. The competition offers young players a rare opportunity to showcase their skills while serving as a pipeline for identifying future stars.

This year’s event is boosted by the presence of Ghanaian football legends Asamoah Gyan and Stephen Appiah, whose attendance is expected to inspire participants. Both former national team captains have been strong advocates for youth development in Ghana.

Defending champions Adrobaa R/C Basic School from the Ahafo Region return to defend their title following an impressive performance in the previous edition. However, they face strong competition from other regional representatives determined to claim the trophy.

Over the years, the championship organized by Nestlé through its Milo brand—has earned a reputation for discovering and nurturing young football talent, with several participants progressing to higher levels of the sport.

The tournament will run for four days, culminating in the grand finale on Saturday. With pride, recognition, and future opportunities on the line, fans can expect an exciting display of emerging talent and a celebration of Ghana’s football heritage.
