The Ghana Police Service has apprehended six students from Aggrey Memorial Senior High School following a violent assault on a final-year student of Adisadel College.

On Friday, February 20, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the victim, identified as Rexford Owusu-Ansah, was returning to campus with two friends after the final day of sports activities at the Cape Coast Stadium.

According to police reports, the group was intercepted at Pedu Junction by the suspects. The attackers allegedly stopped the trio to confirm their affiliation with Adisadel College before launching a targeted assault. While Owusu-Ansah’s friends managed to escape the scene, he was overpowered, kicked to the ground, and severely beaten.

Beyond the physical assault, the attackers reportedly robbed the victim of: An iPhone 17 Pro Max, GH¢1,400 in cash, and His shoes.

Owusu-Ansah was initially rushed to the stadium clinic before being referred to the Cape Coast Regional Hospital for specialized care. The police medical report confirmed that the student suffered a fractured bone around his right eye, a condition so severe that he was unable to open the eye following the attack.

After undergoing treatment, he was discharged on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

The authorities at Aggrey Memorial SHS acted swiftly, handing over the six juvenile suspects to the Kotokuraba Police Station at roughly 7:30 p.m. on the day of the incident. The victim’s two companions have stated they are capable of identifying the attackers, providing crucial evidence for the ongoing case.

In a statement signed by the Acting Head of Public Affairs, ASP Patrick Bentum, the Central Regional Police Command expressed a zero-tolerance policy regarding the violence.

“The Central Regional Police Command strongly condemns the violence and assures the public that due process will be followed as the juvenile offenders will face the full rigours of the law,” the statement concluded.

The suspects are currently assisting police with investigations as the community calls for increased security during inter-school events.
