Flu is surging nationwide and doctors say we are nowhere near the peak

The new variant of Influenza A, or H3N2, successfully dubbed ‘super flu,’ has caused hospitalizations to nearly double in a week, the CDC reported. Flu is surging across the U.S., sending thousands more people to the hospital and hitting young children especially hard, as doctors warn the season still has a long way to go.

According to the CDC, hospitalizations nearly doubled in a single week, rising to 19,053, up from 9,944 the week prior, and about 3,100 people have died from the flu this season. The number of pediatric deaths rose to five, up from two the week before.

Is influenza flu serious?                                                                                                                                          While most people recover within a week without the need for medical care, influenza can lead to much more dire ends, not excluding death, especially among high-risk groups such as young children, the elderly, pregnant women and individuals with underlying health conditions.

What is the first symptom of influenza?
The earliest signs of the flu often come on suddenly and may feel more severe than other common viral illnesses. Many individuals describe an abrupt wave of fatigue or body ache, followed by chills, or the sensation of coming down with something before any outward symptoms even begin
How to recover from influenza?                                                                                                                                    Try these highly effective remedies to aid your recovery from influenza:
    1. Drink plenty of fluids. This includes, but is not limited to, water and warm soup.
    2. Rest. You may need to cancel or reschedule some of your plans depending on your symptoms.
    3. Take acetaminophen (Tylenol, others) or ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others) as prescribed by a medical physician.
