Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has announced a 27-player provisional squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The squad features a blend of experienced internationals and emerging talents as Ghana prepares for the continental tournament later this month.
Experienced Stars Included
Captain Portia Boakye headlines the squad alongside several established players who have been key members of the national team in recent years.
Also named in the provisional squad are Grace Asantewaa, Cynthia Konlan, Alice Kusi, Evelyn Badu, Jennifer Cudjoe, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah and Princella Adubea.
Coach Bjorkegren has also handed opportunities to a number of promising young players as part of his preparations for the tournament.
Home-Based Players Earn Call-Ups
The provisional list includes several players from the Ghana Women’s Premier League, including Osman Huzeima of Jonina Ladies and Ajegipina Zakaria of Ampem Darkoa Ladies.
Their inclusion reflects the technical team’s continued recognition of standout performers in the domestic league.
Black Queens Resume Camping
The Black Queens are expected to begin camping in the coming days as preparations intensify for the tournament in Morocco.
Ghana has been drawn in Group D, where they will face:
- Cape Verde โ July 29
- Cameroon โ August 2
- Mali โ August 6
All three group-stage matches will be played at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca.
The Black Queens will be aiming to advance beyond the group stage and challenge for their first Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title.
