SSNIT denies reports of hotel asset sale

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has refuted reports suggesting it is selling its hotel investments, describing the claims as false and urging the public to disregard them.

In a statement issued on Friday, May 22, 2026, the Trust emphasized that it has not initiated any process to dispose of its hospitality assets, reaffirming its commitment to preserving and strengthening the value of its investments.

SSNIT explained that advertisements published in the Ghanaian Times and Daily Graphic on March 24, 2026, were not invitations for the sale of hotel assets.

Instead, they sought qualified consulting firms to provide professional advisory services for Golden Beach Hotels Limited, which manages La Palm Royal Beach Resort, Elmina Beach Resort, and Busua Beach Resort.

According to the Trust, the consultants will conduct an independent assessment of the company’s operations, recommend turnaround strategies, and develop a five-year business plan aimed at strengthening long-term viability, competitiveness, and profitability.

SSNIT stressed that the exercise is intended to improve performance and preserve value, not initiate divestment.

Management highlighted that Labadi Beach Hotel remains one of SSNIT’s key strategic investments and continues to perform strongly.

The Trust noted that it is actively supporting the hotel’s expansion and growth initiatives to enhance its long-term contribution to the pension scheme.

SSNIT reaffirmed its pledge to protect contributors’ funds, stating that decisions regarding hospitality investments are guided by sound principles, sustainability, and long-term value creation.

The Trust assured contributors, pensioners, and the public of its commitment to safeguarding the pension scheme through responsible management practices.
