Ghana has produced a total of 694 million barrels of crude oil since the start of commercial production in 2010, according to the Public Interest and Accountability Committee.

The figure was disclosed in the committee’s 2025 annual report, presented in Accra by its Chairman, Richard Ellimah.

The report identifies the Jubilee Field as the country’s top-performing asset, maintaining its position as the highest-producing field since operations began. It recorded an average output of 63,280 barrels per day and a cumulative production of 22.21 million barrels.

The TEN Field follows with an average daily output of 15,985 barrels and total production of 5.83 million barrels. Meanwhile, the Sankofa Gye Nyame Field has contributed 9.26 million barrels over the same period.

According to the report, Ghana’s oil production peaked in 2019, when output surpassed 71.44 million barrels. However, since then, production has steadily declined, with consecutive annual drops recorded through to 2025.

The committee emphasised the need for sustained oversight and prudent management of petroleum revenues to ensure that the country maximises the benefits of its natural resources.

It also noted that the downward trend in production highlights the need for renewed strategic focus to stabilise output and secure long-term economic gains from the oil sector.
