Odo Broni, the estranged widow of late Ghanaian Highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, broke down in tears at the musician’s graveside during his one-year memorial service, pleading for her name to be cleared over allegations surrounding his death.
The emotional moment has generated widespread discussion on social media after videos from the ceremony went viral.
Over the weekend, the family of the late Highlife icon held a memorial ceremony to mark one year since his passing.
During the event, Odo Broni was seen weeping uncontrollably as she stood at Daddy Lumba’s graveside.
In a video circulating online, she appealed to the late musician to clear her name, saying she has faced emotional pain and public accusations linking her to his death.
Speaking through tears, Odo Broni said Daddy Lumba knew the truth about their relationship and the support she gave him during his lifetime.
“I am suffering. Papa, while you were alive, I was never at loggerheads with you. Papa, you were the only person who knew the truth because, when you were alive, you told me that if not for me, you would have died a long time ago.
“You even told people how good I was to you. Papa, please clear my name. I am crying at your grave because I have suffered.”
She said the allegations have caused her significant emotional distress and affected her reputation.
The video has attracted widespread reactions on social media, with many users expressing sympathy for Odo Broni, while others continued to debate the circumstances surrounding the late musician’s death.
No evidence has been presented publicly to substantiate the allegations linking Odo Broni to Daddy Lumba’s death, and no official findings have implicated her in connection with his passing.
The memorial ceremony brought together family members, friends and admirers to celebrate Daddy Lumba’s enduring legacy as one of Ghana’s most influential Highlife musicians.
