A majority of Ghanaian voters support the establishment of regional tribunals, according to a new poll released by GlobalInfo Analytics.

The survey, published on July 27, found that 63 per cent of respondents approve of the creation of the regional tribunal system, while 19 per cent oppose it. Another 17 per cent said they had no opinion on the issue.

The findings come after Parliament passed legislation to establish the regional tribunals. The bill is currently awaiting presidential assent before it can become law.

    Support cuts across political parties

According to the poll, support for the regional tribunals extends across Ghana’s major political parties, although approval levels differ.

Among supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), 82 per cent backed the establishment of the tribunals.

The survey also found that 45 per cent of New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters approved of the initiative, representing the largest share of opinion within the party.

Among respondents who did not disclose their political affiliation, 48 per cent expressed support for the tribunal system.

    Survey covered all 16 regions

GlobalInfo Analytics said the poll was conducted through longitudinal telephone interviews between July 15 and July 24, 2026.

The survey sampled 7,761 registered voters across all 16 regions of Ghana.

According to the research firm, the poll has a confidence level of 99 per cent and a margin of error of plus or minus 1.5 percentage points.

The findings indicate broad public support for the proposed regional tribunals, even though views vary across different political groups, as the legislation awaits presidential assent.
