NPP Is Bigger Than Any Individual” ,Akufo-Addo Warns Aspirants Ahead of Jan. 31 Primaries

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cautioned aspirants contesting in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) January 31 primaries to put the collective interest of the party above personal ambition, stressing that the NPP is bigger than any individual.

The President’s admonition comes at a critical moment as the governing party prepares to elect its parliamentary candidates ahead of the 2024 general elections. With political temperatures rising in several constituencies, Akufo-Addo urged aspirants and their supporters to conduct themselves with discipline, respect, and a deep sense of loyalty to the party.

According to him, internal elections should strengthen the NPP rather than weaken it. He warned that acts of intolerance, personal attacks, and actions that sow division could undermine the party’s unity and electoral fortunes. “No individual, regardless of influence or ambition, is bigger than the party,” he emphasized, calling on members to remember the sacrifices that have sustained the NPP over the years.

President Akufo-Addo further reminded aspirants that the primaries are only one phase of a broader political journey, and that unity after the contests will be crucial if the party hopes to retain power. He urged those who may not emerge victorious to accept the outcomes in good faith and support the chosen candidates for the sake of party cohesion.

The President also appealed to party executives and election officials to ensure a transparent, free, and fair process, noting that credible internal elections will enhance confidence in the party and energize its grassroots ahead of the national polls.

As the January 31 primaries draw closer, Akufo-Addo’s message serves as a clear call for restraint, unity, and party-first politics, reinforcing the idea that the strength of the NPP lies not in individual ambitions, but in collective purpose and shared values.
