The veteran actress and TV personality marked her birthday with a packed movie premiere, celebrity performances, and a major celebration of her 25-year journey in Ghana’s entertainment industry.

Nana Ama McBrown has given Ghanaians another reason to celebrate her! The actress and media personality turned 49 on August 15, 2026, and marked the milestone in grand style at the UPSA Auditorium, where she also celebrated an impressive 25 years in Ghana’s entertainment industry. The celebration doubled as the premiere of her new movie, AMA, turning what could have been a simple birthday celebration into a major entertainment event.

    A Birthday Packed With Stars

The event attracted a strong lineup of celebrities, industry personalities, musicians, and fans who came out to celebrate McBrown. The movie premiere featured live performances from KiDi, Kuami Eugene, Wendy Shay, Lasmid and other Ghanaian artistes, giving the event the atmosphere of both a film premiere and a massive birthday party. The premiere was held in three separate sessions at 2 pm, 5 pm and 8 pm, with reports indicating that all three screenings drew large crowds.McBrown also used the occasion to showcase her new movie, which was filmed entirely in Twi and follows a young girl navigating her dreams, family expectations and the pressure surrounding the choices she wants to make.

    25 Years of McBrown

Beyond the birthday celebration, the occasion was a reflection of McBrown’s remarkable journey in Ghanaian entertainment. The actress began her career on screen about 25 years ago and has since become one of the country’s most recognizable faces across film and television. In her birthday message, McBrown reflected on the challenges she had faced throughout her career and expressed gratitude to her fans for standing by her for two and a half decades. She also made it clear that AMA is about more than simply celebrating herself. The movie forms part of her broader vision to contribute to the revival of Ghana’s film industry by creating opportunities for younger and emerging talents.

The Movie Premiere Gets Its Own Drama

Even with the celebrations going smoothly, there was a small controversy at the premiere. A blogger was reportedly escorted out by security personnel after allegedly attempting to stream the movie despite McBrown’s earlier warning against unauthorized streaming.McBrown had warned bloggers not to stream the film, and security personnel were reportedly instructed to act against anyone caught doing so. The incident quickly became another talking point from an already eventful night.

From turning 49 to celebrating 25 years in the industry and premiering a new movie, Nana Ama McBrown’s weekend was clearly about much more than a birthday. She celebrated her past, showcased her latest project, and reminded Ghanaians that she is still very much invested in the future of the local film industry.
