President John Dramani Mahama is expected to hold bilateral talks with Belarusian President Aleksandr Grigorievich Lukashenko today as part of his official visit to Belarus.
The meeting will take place at the Presidential Palace in Minsk and will be followed by a high-level engagement between officials from both countries.
Ghana and Belarus are expected to sign four memoranda of understanding after the bilateral discussions.
The agreements are expected to strengthen cooperation in key sectors and deepen relations between the two countries.
President Mahama’s visit to Belarus forms part of efforts to explore new opportunities in trade, agriculture and technical cooperation.
Later in the day, President Mahama will address a Ghana-Belarus Business Forum at the Presidential Hotel in Minsk.
The event will bring together government officials and private sector representatives from both countries.
Ghana’s delegation includes officials from the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
Several private sector representatives are also participating in the forum.
During his visit, President Mahama toured Savushkin Product, one of Belarus’ largest agro-processing companies.
The visit gave the Ghanaian delegation an opportunity to learn about the country’s food processing industry and agricultural value chain.
The President also visited the Belagro Agricultural Exhibition.
There, he toured displays of modern farming equipment, mechanisation technologies and food processing machinery.
Several government officials are accompanying President Mahama on the trip.
They include Presidential Advisor and Special Aide Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Food and Agriculture Minister Eric Opoku.
Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations) Stan Xoese Dogbe and Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim are also part of the delegation.
The five-day visit is expected to strengthen economic and diplomatic ties between Ghana and Belarus while opening new opportunities for cooperation in agriculture, trade and investment.
