President John Dramani Mahama says Ghana must diversify its economy. He made the call at the 10th Ghana CEO Summit in Accra.
The President said the country needs a strong and competitive industrial sector. He also called for the use of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies to drive economic growth.
Mahama outlined several key priorities for his administration. These include infrastructure development under the “Big Push” programme. The government also plans to invest in energy and communications. Other priorities are the 24-hour economy initiative, the Accelerated Export Agenda, and modernising agriculture. The government also wants to promote value addition for export and improve rural livelihoods.
The President called on the private sector to complement government efforts. He urged business leaders to use platforms created by regional bodies to boost trade.
Mahama also addressed investor concerns. He said businesses must not receive mixed signals from state agencies. “A serious investor should not receive conflicting signals from agencies of the same state,” he said.
He stressed the need for clear procedures, reduced duplication, transparent rules, and faster service delivery. These steps, he said, will help businesses expand, hire more staff, and compete effectively.
Mahama assured attendees that the government listens to the private sector. He said he plans to engage business leaders further on the Compact after the Attorney General completes a review. Their input will shape how the government responds to key challenges.
“Ghanaians expect leadership that responds to crises with urgency and trust,” he told the gathering.
The summit brought together hundreds of business leaders, policymakers, and corporate executives. At the event, President Mahama was appointed Chief Patron of the Ghana CEO Summit.
