Laryea Kingston Describes Salisu’s Injury As A “Huge Blow”

Ghana’s Black Stars are facing a major setback ahead of the 2026 World Cup as defender Mohammed Salisu suffers a season-ending ACL injury.

The injury, confirmed by AS Monaco, occurred during their 3-1 loss to Olympique Lyonnais.

Former Black Stars forward Laryea Kingston described Salisu’s injury as a “huge blow” for the team, citing his importance as a central defender and experienced player.

Salisu’s injury adds to Ghana’s concerns, with the team facing a tough group featuring England, Croatia, and Panama.

The injury comes as a huge blow for both Monaco and Ghana. Salisu has been a key presence in Monaco’s defence and one of the most reliable options at the heart of the Black Stars’ backline.

Since making his international debut in 2022, the center-back has scored four goals in 22 appearances, underlining his value at both ends of the pitch.
