Police at Medie have arrested a 50-year-old landlord, Kofi Koranteng, for allegedly killing his tenant during a dispute over a GH¢30 electricity bill.

The suspect was arrested at his hideout in Nsawam and is currently assisting police with investigations.

The deceased, Opoku Agyemang, was a 37-year-old father of three.

Reports said the two men had maintained a close friendship for years despite their landlord-tenant relationship.

Eyewitnesses said the disagreement started over an unpaid electricity bill. However, residents said they were shocked that the situation turned deadly because the two men had worked together for a long time.

A witness, Enoch Idan Danquah, told Onua News that Koranteng invited Opoku into his room to discuss the payment issue.

During the discussion, the landlord allegedly pulled out a machete and fatally stabbed the tenant.

Koranteng reportedly fled the area after the incident before police tracked and arrested him in Nsawam.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.
