President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku, has expressed concern over injuries affecting key Black Stars players ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana’s preparations have been hit by fitness issues involving Abu Francis, Mohammed Kudus and Mohammed Salisu, raising doubts about their availability for the tournament.

Speaking on the sidelines of the FIFA Congress in Vancouver, Okraku admitted the situation is worrying but remains hopeful.

“I know we have some challenges with injuries to key players. When I look at the list, it’s quite worrying,” he said, adding that Ghana’s resilience and unity can help the team overcome the setback.

He also pointed to renewed energy within the squad following the arrival of head coach Carlos Queiroz, expressing confidence that the team will remain competitive.

Despite the concerns, morale remains high in camp, with the coach’s appointment boosting belief among players and supporters.

Ghana will compete in Group I alongside Panama, England and Croatia. The Black Stars open their campaign against Panama on June 17, face England on June 23, and conclude the group stage against Croatia on June 27.

The team is expected to play international friendlies against Mexico and Wales as part of preparations.

Attention will now shift to June 1, when Queiroz is set to name his final squad for the tournament.
