Sports Minister Kofi Adams has challenged new Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz to improve the national team’s performances ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Queiroz replaced Otto Addo in April after Ghana’s poor run of results.
The Black Stars are currently on a four-match losing streak despite several players performing strongly for their clubs in Europe.
Speaking to SoccerChat, Mr Adams questioned why some players struggle to deliver similar performances for Ghana.
“Why would we have Antoine Semenyo in our team, and when he goes to his club side he performs very well, but when he comes to the national team, he’s not able to play effectively?” he asked.
He also mentioned Mohammed Kudus as another player who has shown strong form at club level but struggled to maintain the same impact with the national team.
“Kudus plays well for his club but at the national team, he sometimes struggles to have that kind of flair,” he said.
Mr. Adams said the new coach must find a way to turn Ghana’s individual talent into results.
“So the new coach has work to do to make these talents achieve results,” he added.
Antoine Semenyo has scored 20 goals and provided six assists for his club this season.
Kudus also scored nine goals in all competitions for Tottenham Hotspur before suffering an injury in January.
Queiroz has already said only deserving players will make the final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana will face Mexico national football team on May 22 before taking on Wales national football team on June 2 in preparation for the tournament.
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside England national football team, Croatia national football team, and Panama national football team.
Ghana is chasing its first World Cup knockout qualification since the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
