Justin Frimpong Koduah questions Abronye DC’s health status

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Koduah, has expressed concern over the welfare and health condition of the party’s Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, after he was not presented in court during proceedings relating to his bail application.

Speaking to journalists after a hearing at the High Court in Accra on Wednesday, Mr. Koduah said the party was worried about Abronye DC’s condition, stressing that his absence from court had raised concerns among party members and supporters.

He noted that the NPP delegation had appeared before the court expecting to see the party official but was unable to do so, describing the situation as troubling while indicating that the party would closely monitor developments in the coming days.

His remarks come as legal proceedings involving Abronye DC continue. He is currently in custody and facing charges including offensive conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace and publication of false news.

During proceedings, the High Court adjourned the hearing of the bail application after the prosecution requested additional time to prepare and file its response.

Lawyers representing Abronye DC, led by Godfred Yeboah Dame, opposed the request, arguing that the prosecution had already been served with the relevant court documents and should have been prepared to proceed.

The prosecution, however, argued that more time was required to properly review and respond to the application.

The court subsequently granted the request and directed the Republic to submit its response by the close of the day. The matter was then adjourned to Thursday, May 21, 2026, for the continuation of the bail hearing.
