Cabinet has approved new visa waiver agreements between Ghana and three countries Antigua and Barbuda, the Maldives, and Zambia in a move aimed at boosting international travel and strengthening diplomatic relations.

The announcement was made by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, in a social media post on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

Under the agreements, holders of all passport types including ordinary, service, and diplomatic passports will be able to travel visa-free between Ghana and the three partner countries for up to 30 days per visit.

The agreements are expected to be submitted to Parliament for ratification before they take full effect.

According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the initiative is part of efforts to enhance the global mobility and value of the Ghanaian passport while deepening bilateral cooperation.

Government also indicated that it will continue negotiating similar visa waiver deals with additional countries, alongside strengthening security measures in passport issuance to maintain integrity.

The move is expected to make travel easier, encourage tourism, and promote trade, cultural exchange, and investment between Ghana and its international partners.
