Ghanaian football fans across the country will be able to follow all matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup live after the government secured television broadcast rights for the tournament, supported by an ongoing fundraising initiative.
The announcement was made by the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, during a ceremony where contributions towards the Black Stars’ World Cup preparations were highlighted.
At the event, GCB Bank donated GH¢5 million to support the national team’s fundraising campaign, adding to growing private sector involvement in Ghana’s build-up to the global tournament.
Mr. Adams explained that a combination of government support and fundraising efforts had made it possible to obtain the rights to broadcast the tournament live on selected television stations across the country.
“Through the support of government and fundraising efforts, we have been able to secure broadcast rights to telecast the World Cup matches live on some of the media stations,” he said.
The fundraising drive forms part of broader efforts to mobilise resources for the Black Stars ahead of the expanded 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Beyond team preparation, officials say the initiative is also aimed at boosting national engagement and uniting supporters behind the Black Stars on football’s biggest stage.
With excitement building ahead of the tournament, the development is expected to be welcomed by fans eager to watch and support Ghana throughout the competition.
