The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially unveiled activities for its annual “NDC Month” celebration, set for June 2026, with a series of nationwide programmes reflecting on the party’s history, ideological values, and vision for governance.
Speaking at the party’s headquarters in Adabraka, Accra, on Friday, May 15, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey described the observance as a period of “reflection, remembrance, recommitment, and renewal” of the NDC’s guiding principles.
This year’s celebration, themed “Strengthening State Institutions: Lessons from the June 4,1979 Uprising,” begins immediately and runs through June. Mr. Kwetey emphasized that the June 4 uprising remains a defining moment in Ghana’s political history, symbolizing demands for accountability, integrity in public service, discipline in leadership, and social justice values that continue to shape the NDC’s philosophy and underpin President John Dramani Mahama’s ongoing “Reset Agenda.”
He explained that the Reset Agenda seeks to rebuild public trust in state institutions, strengthen transparency, and improve governance systems to better serve citizens.
Paying tribute to the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, Mr. Kwetey hailed him as the party’s founding figure and a central contributor to Ghana’s democratic development. He praised Rawlings’ dedication to probity, accountability, and social justice, noting that his legacy continues to inspire the NDC’s direction.

Mr. Kwetey stressed that the activities are not merely ceremonial but are designed to deepen political education, encourage civic engagement, and promote national reflection particularly among young people.
