Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Elikplim Akurugu, made an emotional appeal to the Minister for Roads and Highways and the contractor working on roads within the constituency to urgently fix the deteriorating roads leading to the Ga East Municipal Hospital.
The MP went on her knees during a Mother’s Day visit to the hospital, describing the poor state of the roads as a major challenge for patients, health workers and residents who use the route daily.
Addressing the gathering, Madam Akurugu passionately appealed for immediate intervention to improve access to the health facility, stressing that the current condition of the roads poses serious difficulties, particularly for pregnant women, emergency cases and other vulnerable patients seeking healthcare services.
She noted that despite several concerns raised by residents over the years, the roads remain in deplorable condition, affecting transportation and healthcare delivery in the area.
The Dome-Kwabenya legislator urged the Roads Minister and the contractor to prioritise the project and ensure that construction works are completed as quickly as possible to ease the burden on commuters and hospital users.
Her emotional plea drew reactions from some residents and hospital visitors who expressed hope that the appeal would accelerate efforts to rehabilitate the roads.
Madam Akurugu made the appeal as part of activities during her Mother’s Day interaction with mothers and staff at the Ga East Municipal Hospital, where she also extended goodwill messages to mothers in the constituency.
