Eid-ul-Adha: Muslim caucus encourages peaceful and harmonious celebrations

The Muslim Caucus in Parliament has called on Muslims across Ghana to celebrate tomorrow’s Eid-ul-Adha in an atmosphere of peace, unity, mutual respect, and national harmony.

The appeal comes as Muslims across Ghana and around the world prepare to observe one of the most important events on the Islamic calendar, a festival that symbolises sacrifice, obedience, and devotion to God.

Speaking on behalf of the caucus, Member of Parliament for Salaga, Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, stressed the need for peaceful coexistence among all religious groups during the celebrations.

She highlighted Ghana’s longstanding reputation for religious tolerance as one of the nation’s greatest strengths and urged citizens to preserve and strengthen that tradition, particularly during major religious occasions such as Eid al-Adha.

She also extended goodwill wishes to the Muslim community, encouraging worshippers to uphold the values of peace, respect, and harmony as they participate in prayers, sacrifices, and other festive activities across the country.

“Ghana’s strength lies in our religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence. As we celebrate, I urge all Ghanaians, especially the Muslim Ummah, to observe Eid-ul-Adha in an atmosphere of peace, mutual respect and harmony,” she said.

The caucus further encouraged Muslims to reflect on the deeper lessons of Eid-ul-Adha, including sacrifice, obedience to God, compassion for others, and generosity towards the less privileged.

It noted that the values associated with the celebration should inspire both leaders and citizens to place the national interest above personal gain and work collectively towards a more united, fair, and prosperous Ghana.

“As we mark this occasion, may the lessons of sacrifice, obedience, and compassion inspire all of us to place the common good above self-interest and work together for a just, united, and prosperous nation,” the caucus stated.
