    ECG lists communities affected by June 3 power outages

    The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of power outages scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, 2026, affecting parts of the Accra East, Accra West, Ashanti and Tema regions.

    The interruptions are attributed to planned maintenance works, emergency repairs and a fault caused by a burnt high-tension pole, with ECG assuring customers that efforts are underway to restore supply as quickly as possible.

    Accra East Region

    In the Accra East Region, planned maintenance works will be carried out from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    Areas expected to be affected include:

    • Amrahia Goil Filling Station
    • Agbogba Junction
    • Wisconsin University
    • Parts of North Legon
    • Top Herbal
    • Akatsi Abor
    • Agbogba Police Container
    • Surrounding communities

    Separately, ECG reported an outage caused by a burnt high-tension pole at Abokobi Masalakyi.

    The fault has affected electricity supply to:

    • Abokobi Defizzy Mall
    • Nearby communities

    The company said engineers are already on site working to rectify the fault and restore power.

    Accra West Region

    Planned maintenance works will also take place in the Accra West Region between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

    Communities expected to experience power interruptions include:

    • SCC Junction
    • ECG Bortianor Office area
    • Abease
    • Achiama
    • Obeyeyie
    • Ayikai Doblo
    • Surrounding communities

    Ashanti Region

    The Ashanti Region will experience two separate outages on Wednesday.

    Planned Maintenance (9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

    Affected areas include:

    • Odumase
    • Akokoaso
    • Hemang
    • Krodua
    • Nearby communities

    Emergency Maintenance (9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)

    ECG says emergency works are necessary to improve service delivery. Communities expected to be affected include:

    • Chicago
    • Nambro
    • Subiri
    • Anwiaso
    • Akyease
    • Kwamekrom
    • Bibiani
    • Mensin Gold Mining Company
    • Tanodumase
    • KD Sreso
    • Nyinahin
    • Kuffour Camp
    • Bayerebon
    • Nagole
    • Ntoboroso
    • Adobewura
    • Akoraboakrom
    • Agogoso
    • Anwiafutu
    • Kotokuom
    • Anyinamso 1 and 2
    • Surrounding communities

    Tema Region

    In the Tema Region, planned maintenance works will be undertaken from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Affected communities include:

    • Level 400
    • Communities 19 and 20
    • Awudu Issaka
    • St. Bakhita
    • Afariwaa Junction
    • Sanco 4
    • Yellow Signboard
    • Michell Camp Gate
    • Kakasunaka
    • Gbetsile
    • Soldier Line
    • Surrounding communities

    ECG has apologised for the inconvenience the outages may cause and advised customers in affected areas to make alternative arrangements for activities that depend on electricity.

    The company noted that the maintenance exercises form part of efforts to improve service reliability and network performance.

    ECG further assured customers that power supply will be restored immediately after the completion of the scheduled works or once the fault caused by the burnt high-tension pole has been resolved.

    Customers have been encouraged to follow ECG’s official communication platforms for updates and additional information regarding the outages.
