The Electricity Company of Ghana has announced both planned and emergency maintenance works that will lead to power interruptions across parts of the Ashanti and Western Regions on Friday, May 15, 2026.

According to the company, the outages will begin at 9:00 a.m., with different durations depending on the type of work being carried out in each area.

In the Ashanti Region, planned maintenance will last from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will affect several communities, including Edwenase, Kwadaso, Nwamase, Apire, Ampatia, Bebu, Dako, Ampabame No.1 and 2, Mpatasie, Trede, Sabin Akrofrom, Takyiman, Denkyembouso, Ohuwmasi, parts of Asuoyeboa and Tanoso, Santasi, Fankyenebra, and surrounding areas.

In the Western Region, planned maintenance will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., affecting areas around Fiji Articulator Park. There will also be emergency maintenance from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. affecting Aboso township, Damang, Fante Mines, Bogoso Junction, New Site, and nearby communities.

The announcement comes as ECG continues to fix recent faults in the Accra West Region. On Thursday, a technical problem at Pentecost Junction disrupted power to areas including Borkorborkor, Numbotse, Afuaman, Manhean, and Mallam Issah.

In a separate incident, a punctured underground cable at Mango Lane caused outages at Weija Junction, Menskrom, Jayee University, Regent University, and surrounding areas.

Electricity Company of Ghana has apologized to affected customers and says engineers are working to restore stable power supply while strengthening the network to prevent future disruptions.
