Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has declared his intention to contest for the National Chairmanship position of the party.

The outspoken party stalwart made his ambition known as discussions intensified around the future leadership of the NPP ahead of its next internal elections. His declaration has already generated significant debate within political circles, given his influence and strong support base, particularly in the Ashanti Region.

Chairman Wontumi, who has served multiple terms as Ashanti Regional Chairman, is widely credited with strengthening the party’s grassroots machinery and delivering consistent electoral victories in the region. Supporters argue that his experience, bold leadership style, and loyalty to the party make him a strong contender for the national role.

In declaring his intention, Chairman Wontumi emphasized the need for unity, discipline, and strategic reorganization within the party as it prepares for future electoral contests. He noted that his decision is driven by a desire to consolidate the party’s structures nationwide and reposition it for victory in upcoming elections.

While the race for the NPP National Chairmanship is yet to officially open, Chairman Wontumi’s announcement signals the beginning of what is expected to be a keenly contested contest. Political observers believe his entry into the race could significantly reshape the dynamics of the party’s internal elections.

As party delegates and supporters await further developments, Chairman Wontumi’s declaration has firmly placed him among the key figures to watch in the NPP’s leadership race.
