The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) denied licences to 4,896 applicants in 2025 after they failed mandatory eye examinations. The measure forms part of the Authority’s efforts to improve road safety and reduce accidents linked to poor vision. According to the DVLA, 251,117 commercial and private drivers underwent compulsory eye screening nationwide last year. Kasapreko PLC has successfully raised GH¢700 million through its Initial Public Offer (IPO), attracting overwhelming investor interest ahead of its listing on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE). The leading beverage manufacturer issued 583.3 million new ordinary shares at GH¢1.20 per share as part of the offer. A multi-million cedi sports and youth development facility in Navrongo remains incomplete nearly nine years after construction began, despite initial assurances that the project would be finished within nine months. The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has reassigned the Bogoso–Prestea road project to a new contractor following delays and poor performance by the previous contractor, Black Oak. Ghana’s economy recorded strong growth in the first quarter of 2026, supported by rapid expansion in the technology sector and a rebound in industrial activity. According to provisional data released by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 6.4% between January and March 2026.
