The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has extended the deadline for filing second-quarter taxes and May 2026 statutory returns following the recent floods that disrupted business activities in Accra and surrounding areas.
The extension was approved by the Commissioner-General to provide relief to businesses and taxpayers affected by the heavy rains.
Under Ghana’s tax calendar, returns for Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Personal Income Tax (PIT), Value Added Tax (VAT), National Health Insurance Levy (NHIL), and Communications Service Tax (CST) were originally due on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
The GRA has now extended the deadline to Monday, July 6, 2026.
In a statement issued by its Communication and Public Affairs Department, the Authority said taxpayers who submit their returns by the new deadline will not face any late filing penalties.
However, it warned that the usual statutory penalties will apply to returns filed after July 6.
The Authority urged taxpayers to use its online Taxpayer’s Portal and other digital platforms to file their returns.
It said the move will reduce unnecessary travel and help taxpayers avoid disruptions caused by the flooding.
The GRA reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted tax administration while supporting businesses affected by the floods.
It added that the Authority remains focused on safeguarding the revenue needed for Ghana’s national development.
Taxpayers experiencing serious operational challenges because of the flooding have been advised to contact their nearest GRA Taxpayer Service Centre (TSC) for assistance.
