Awerco threatens legal action over hospital procurement claims

Awerco Company Limited has threatened legal action against the Ministry of Health over claims relating to the procurement and operationalisation of a hospital project.

In a strongly worded letter, the company raised concerns over statements issued by the ministry regarding the project and the use of medical equipment at the facility.

According to Awerco, failure to provide the necessary training for personnel handling the equipment could create serious risks for the project and future patients.

“Failure to undertake such training poses an additional risk to the project and to potential patients, as critical medical equipment may not be operated properly,” portions of the letter stated.

The company argued that proper operational training was essential to ensure the safe and efficient use of the medical equipment installed at the hospital.

Awerco also questioned why the Ministry of Health would seek to operationalise the hospital if it genuinely believed procurement prices linked to the project had been grossly inflated.

According to the company, the ministry’s actions appear inconsistent with its public claims regarding the procurement process.

The company insisted that portions of the ministry’s statement were inaccurate and damaging to its reputation.

Awerco has therefore demanded the immediate retraction of sections of the ministry’s press statement within 24 hours.

The company warned that it has instructed its legal team to pursue all available legal remedies if the ministry fails to comply with the demand.
