The Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, has assured Ghanaian content creators of the central bank’s readiness to help address challenges related to receiving payouts from digital platforms.
He gave the assurance during an engagement with content creators at Bank Square on Wednesday, April 22, following the Bank’s April 20 statement on concerns about access to earnings from global platforms.
Dr. Asiama stressed that the Bank of Ghana recognises the growing importance of content creators, likening their role in the digital economy to traditional export sectors such as cocoa.
He reiterated the Bank’s openness to assisting individuals facing payout difficulties.
“If you have any issues with your payouts, we are ready to help,” he said, adding that the Bank remains accessible to resolve such concerns.
He also encouraged creators to form a structured association to improve coordination and engagement with regulators for quicker resolution of industry issues.
Dr. Asiama further assured that the central bank remains committed to improving the operating environment for digital creators.
He noted that under existing foreign exchange regulations, export earnings from services can be received through foreign exchange accounts in Ghana or credited to cedi accounts, provided all transactions comply with regulatory requirements.
