Ukraine Pushes Back as Russia Makes Slow Battlefield Gains Amid Upcoming Talks

Russia has made gradual gains on the battlefield, but Ukraine reports that it is also reclaiming some territory previously taken by Russian forces.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that another round of talks, involving Russian and US negotiators, could take place next week.

The negotiations are being led by US President Donald Trump, who has been working to find a resolution to the conflict.

A key sticking point in the discussions is part of Trump’s proposals, which suggest that Ukraine cede to Russia certain areas in the Donbas region that it does not currently control. Donbas, an industrial zone, includes the administrative regions of Donetsk and Luhansk.

Currently, Russia controls over 80% of these territories, and Ukraine has said it cannot agree to relinquish them.
