Veteran highlife musician Kojo Antwi has opened up about his creative process and nocturnal lifestyle. In an interview, Mr. Music Man revealed that he finds inspiration at night, often working late and waking up as early as 3 a.m. to create music.
“I’m a man of the night, so if you speak to most of the people I work with, all my messages and all the things that I create come at night,” he stated.
Due to his nocturnal habit, Kojo Antwi is able to access his creative flow, and he attributes the inspiration for his songs to the night. The music icon’s sustained success in Ghana’s music scene can be attributed in part to his commitment to his profession.
The “Dadie Anoma” hitmaker also emphasized the importance of rhythm in African culture, stating that any sound made is a rhythm and that it is an integral part of who they are as a people. He praised young musicians for their versatility in experimenting with different rhythms, saying it is a testament to the richness of African music.
